Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all of our Stingers had a great weekend!

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

LDSB Choices at 7

Dear Parents/Guardians of Grade 6 and Grade 7 Students,

We would like to provide you with information about the Application Process for the LDSB Choices at 7 Programs for the 2024-25 School Year.  You can find updated Choices at 7 Information on the Board website, www.limestone.on.ca under the Programming tab. Once there, you will learn about about the application process, dates for applying, FAQ’s, etc. for the following programs: Extended French Immersion, ATLAS, LEAP and Challenge.

Questions regarding the programs can be emailed to the registrars at:  [email protected].

In addition, Choices at 7 Open Houses for the ATLAS, LEAP and Challenge Programs will be held at the schools in December. The Open Houses are an opportunity to learn more about the programs, the schools in which they are located, to ask questions, and to make decisions as to whether a program is an option for your child.

Please check the website for the appropriate Challenge site to apply to, based on your home address.

December 12, 2023 - Challenge Open House at Loughborough Public School, 6 pm

December 13, 2023 - Challenge Open House at Odessa Public School, 6 pm

December 14, 2023 - ATLAS, LEAP and Challenge Open House at Calvin Park Public School, 6 pm

Dates for the Open Houses for Extended French Immersion will be shared in the New Year on the Limestone District School Board website.

We look forward to supporting you through this process for the 2024-25 school year.

Hot Lunch Update

Although we were hoping to have the hot lunch vender change go live on the calendar for Monday, November 20, there was a delay with Lunchbox Group.  Families should now be able to order hot lunches, from Gino’s, up until Sunday, December 3 at noon.  Ginos’ deliveries will start the week of December 4th.

Storrington Jingle Bell Walk/Non-Perishable Food Donations

Our Storrington Jingle Bell Walk is scheduled for Friday, December 15th.  In conjunction with the Jingle Bell Walk, we will be accepting non-perishable food items for the Battersea United Church. Students are encouraged to bring in non-perishable food items, which will be used to provide food baskets for families in need.  We will be accepting food donations until Friday, December 15.

Storrington’s Family Literacy Night

All of our Stinger families are invited to join us on Wednesday, November 29 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, to learn about the Science of Reading.  Families will leave with recommendations on how to best support their child(ren) at home.  Families will receive take-home activities, treats and raffle prizes.  Childcare will be provided.

Storrington Stinger Volleyball

We want to wish our Senior Boys volleyball team good luck this week as they participate in a tournament at Queen’s University on Wednesday, November 29.  Good luck to all our Stinger volleyball players!
