Week at a Glance

Hello Storrington Stingers,

We hope that all of our Stingers had a great weekend!

Please see the information below in this week’s Week at a Glance.

Picture Retakes Due

If you are planning on ordering photos from the picture retake day, orders must be submitted to the office by Tuesday, February 28.

Report Cards

First-term report cards went home to families on Monday, February 20.  If you have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please contact your child’s teacher by calling the school or by writing a note in your child’s agenda.

LSDB Special Education Review

This week, students with special education needs will be participating in a Special Education Review survey.  The survey takes about 5 to 10 minutes to complete and will provide the board with valuable input regarding special education delivery and services.

Storrington Forest of Reading Program

We are excited to share that the Forest of Reading program will be beginning this week at Storrington!  Once again this year, there are some amazing Canadian authors and illustrators who have been nominated for the 2022 /2023 award categories. As always, the FOR program thrives on promoting engaging texts, which are intended to capture a wide variety of interests, content and all level of readers attention. Students in the junior grades are asked to a read minimum of 5 books in order to submit their VOTE for their favorite book on VOTING DAY, which will be held in late April. All students in Kindergarten to grade 2 will also submit their vote for one of the ten picture books that are READ ALOUD to the whole class.

Storrington Spirit and Recognition Assembly

Our February Storrington Spirit and Recognition Assembly is scheduled for Thursday, March 2 at 10:00.  We would like to invite our Storrington community to join us for the assembly.  If you are interested in attending, we ask that you arrive at the school by 9:55, so we can start right at 10:00.

Childcare Survey

We have had several requests around the possibility of Before and After School Childcare at Storrington.  As part of the process, families are asked to fill out a survey to determine if childcare is needed.  The survey closes on Friday, March 3.

Updates to Provincial Self-Screening Tool and Guidelines

-Students and staff should stay home when sick. Anyone who is feeling sick or has any new or worsening symptoms of illness (including COVID-19 symptoms) should stay home, until:

-their symptoms have been improving for at least 24 hours (or 48 hours for nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea), and
